Every little girl has this dream of being a princess. For Ginnifer “Ginny” Goodwin, that dream came true when she joined the cast on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. On this fairy tale drama, she plays the role of Snow White, and the alter ego of Mary Margaret.

This coming Sunday, January 22, 2012, is episode 10: 7:15 A.M. In this episode, it will approach the longing romance of Mary Margarat and David (Josh Dallas) in Storybrooke. In the other world of fairy tales, Prince Charming and Snow White will search for a way to be together.

This upcoming episode is centered on Goodwin and Dallas’ characters. This leads into the question of how Snow White/Mary Margaret is dealing with this.

In an interview, Goodwin responded with Snow is not dealing with Charming’s wedding to another woman well. Snow attempts to keep her mind busy, so she can get over this heartbreaking moment and forget him. However, she just cannot get him out of her head.

Well, what is Snow White to do? She needs to strategize a new tactic. Snow White is not the only one struggling with romance, but Mary Margaret is also having trouble-forgetting David. However, Mary Margaret is not as strong as Snow White.

Mary Margaret gives into her obsession. Goodwin said she believes this is exposed in the promos already. The last moment of the two together was where David Nolan left Mary Margaret after building up her hopes of their future together. No matter what, when she runs into David, she can not help but those feelings to build back up.

She has some strange attraction to him, where his very energy just cheers her up no matter how he treated her. (If this was any other story leading this way, I would say run Mary run!) Mary Margaret becomes somewhat of a stalker. In contrast to Snow White to keep busy and forget, Mary Margaret indulges into the feelings she gets being in his presence.

Mary Margaret and David Noland / Snow and Charming seem to have the most emotional center. It is exciting to see the show coming back to address the romance of the couples.

Goodwin

Goodwin said, “Oh, that’s wonderful to hear! I agree.” When she reads a script, she gets most excited over those scenes. Goodwin made a point that it is the stories that she is attached to. She wanted to take on this role specifically because of the obstacles and a love story drama.

From what we know, the dwarves will be presented the first time this week. Is it different working with them and how does it compare to the original story of Snow White?

Goodwin

She confirmed it does come out a little different a little different from the animated version. However, it justifies the animated feature well. In this episode, it will show the dwarves and Snow can relate to each other easily. They all have a lot in common, and can relate to one another.

She could not elaborate on how they meet because it is large portion of the storyline. Goodwin said how moved she was during this scene. It was the little girl in her that came out so much because of the relationship we think we know so well.

When the dwarves (The Super Seven & Team Seven are some of the nicknames) met for the first time, they gave her an incredible present. It was a journal, and on each page was a self-portrait and note. She said it was the so special and touching.

While filming, it was freezing cold in the Vancouver woods, and they kept bringing me hot chocolate and coffee. On the set, everyone takes care of each just like a fairytale.

We know that Regina and Emma have been battling it out the past few episodes. Anything similar coming up for Mary Margaret and Regina in Storybrooke?

Goodwin

Well, Regina and Mary Margaret are always tied together somehow. The storyline is Regina does everything in her power to keep the curse in place. However, at this point, Regina and Emma start focusing their attention towards the stranger that came to Storybrooke.

Interviewer

Speaking of the stranger, is there anything that ties Mary Margaret in with this new character?

Goodwin

At this moment, she is not tied into that storyline yet. She said there were a million theories about the stranger’s intentions. Every guess was wrong. The creators came up with something so much better. The creators do not always tell the cast everything. They just give us enough information to keep our characters in line.

Interviewer

Mr. Gold and Mary Margaret do not seem to have many run-ins. Will you two have anything together happen in future scenes?

Goodwin

They have had several scenes, but not as many as others. She said Robert Carlyle was such a “freaking joy” to work with. He is the most generous and fun person full of love and warmth. However, he can be such a terrifying villain on television. It is incredible. Seeing him switch characters has been very inspiring.

When shooting, she has to remind herself that he is an evil villain and not Bobby Carlyle.

Interviewer

What are the challenges of playing two characters on one show that are so different in personalities?

Goodwin

Her biggest challenge is carrying Mary Margaret’s insecurities and balancing Snow White’s energy. She has to go back and forth playing both characters in a single day. Once she is playing Snow White, she has to work extra hard going into Mary Margaret’s character to hide her inside.

Interviewer

On January 29, 2012 is episode 11, The Fruit of the Poisonous Tree. Here we see Richard Schiff play Snow White’s father.

Goodwin

She felt that he played perfect as Snow White’s father. Goodwin went on to say how she hopes he does come back for more episodes. In addition, Emilie de Ravin guest stars as Belle in mid-February. Amy Acker will also come and guest star in a story that goes with Grumpy.

Interviewer

From ABC’s press releases we know a genie is coming, which blends with the story of Aladdin. The wishes granted are for Snow White’s father, right?

Goodwin

She confirmed there is a lamp. The creators have reintroduced the characters in a surprising way. She could not say anything more about this topic.

Interviewer

The Evil Queen has been implying about the horrible thing Snow White did to betray her. Any hints on what messed up their relationship?

Goodwin

The answers for this is not coming up soon. As time goes on, pieces of the story will be revealed. The whole storyline will be saved for a later date.

Interviewer

Last week, Mary Margaret admired Emma’s blanket. It seemed like she almost had a moment of remembering. Will we see memories starting to appear?

Goodwin

She was not sure. She did say that she does not know the writers plans for merging the two worlds. She hopes that it is not too soon. (OMG – merging the two worlds?!)

As for Mary Margaret remembering the other realm, there will be steps towards that direction. There will also be setbacks. Regina is a powerful woman. She will do everything to keep the two worlds separated.
