Episode 19: The Return Preview – Spoiler

ABC released a clip of episode 19, The Return. In the preview, we see Mary Margaret released from jail. This happens because in the last episode, Stable Boy, Kathryn appears in the alley. With Mary Margaret out of jail, David tries to rekindle what is left of their brief relationship.

Mary Margaret does not seem too enthusiastic over this idea. She tells David that, “something in this world doesn’t want us together.” He responds with questioning if some dark force is separating them. (Which isn’t too far fetched since Regina is quite the dark entity in both worlds).

Also in this episode, August, The Stranger in Storybrooke, seems to have a colorful history with Rumpelstiltskin / Mr. Gold. Somehow, August has Mr. Gold’s dagger, and in the preview, it seems he tries to use it on Mr. Gold. OMG!

Well, Mr. Gold seems to reveal the identity of August and this may be what triggers the dagger incident.

Regina is upset with Mr. Gold because he broke their deal together.

  1. How exciting! A couple of things though – not all of them consistant!
If August is back to kill Rumple/The Dark One, won’t that mean that he (August) will become the dark One in his (Rumple’s) place? After all that is how the dark ones curse was transferred from one to another. Though August is hardly a desperate soul so maybe that would be reason for the dark one’s curse not to transfer or instead break it. And Rumple inspite of his powers for good or ill has repeatedly expressed his regret at losing his son, and by inference his genuine love for his son. And if true love breaks any curse, love of a father for his son is just as valid as romantic love.
The clip does seem to show the knife being handed hilt first which would indicate that the knife is being given, not being used to threaten.
I’m curious as to how August, if he is Baelfire, has aged when other characters haven’t. Unless of course when Rumple created the curse he also created it in such a way that his son was protected from it. It would be interesting to see if Rumple engineered it that the true love to break the curse would be between the children of the two people that Regina fears/hates most – Snow and Rumple.

  2. Sounds like another pretty good episode. It will be nice to finally find out who August W. Boothe is in Fairytale Land…..
